Black Bean & Feta Dip

This was an appetizer I saw on a blog and knew I wanted to try this weekend for girls weekend at the cabin. It was easy and turned out yummy.

whisk in a big bowl 1 cup sugar, 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 3/4 cup vegetable oil. Add 3 cans black beans rinsed and drained and 3 cans shoe peg corn rinsed and drained.Add 1 bunch or scallions and cilantro chopped and mix well. Chill until serving. Serve with tortilla chips or corn chips.
ooops! and 8 oz. feta cheese (good catch Sherina ;)

Sister Time

 

As always sister visits are bittersweet...I love spending time with my sister and her husband, but it reminds me of how much I miss her when she leaves. This visit marks the last before some pretty big changes (not sure if I can blog about it yet ;) so it was nice to get some one-on-one time ! The weather was not what we had planned on, literally it rained and got freezing cold just for the days they were here and now it's back to 90's! Oh well it allowed for some down time where hand and foot action could occur...J.D's idea a 7 game series in hand and foot! The Vieners (joke between us lol) were the Girls woo woo!

Love you sister! ...I can't even tell you how excited I am and thankful for this next part of both of our lives! It just makes me sad I can't be there everyday, I'll keep praying and one day our paths might be houses right next door to each other.

Sugar Hand Scrub

 So I have been totally addicted to Pinterest lately and I had to try this hand scub I pinned.

Super easy and it works pretty good on getting your hands smooth.

Whatever jar you want to use fill it 3/4 the way with sugar. Then using the Dawn soap with Olay Hand Renewal fill 1/4 of the way (I did to my mason jar brim).

Stir together and you have a scrub!

Summer Lovin!

I haven't posted anything since I have been on Summer Break, so here I go. Summer break is such an odd thing...I think it's taken me a week to not feel bad about not having to go to work and fill the time lol. Oh, I have found other things to fill my time...pinterest,wedding planning,sun tanning,sleeping in,research/reading classroom ideas,playing with my puppy and exploring Redding some more lol, but having a few months off is an odd feeling.

This weekend I met Greg at the cabin, his brother and him were working on the sprinkler system so I headed up because it's about 20 degrees cooler up there then at home. We had time to check out the lake and make sure the boat was working in tip top shape for when my sister comes this week...Oh Yes!! This week! Wooo hooo! ;)

 Her first time on a boat ...First day she was a little crazy second day no problem. Hopefully she will be a pro before we are on a house boat for a week lol...

 We have been trying the see this Hearst property forever. The water has to be just right, deep and clear enough and I finally got to take a picture - It's like a fairy tale property.
